Please read his blog: it’s an important read for us today.

And then read the image included in Nick Sousanis’s post, which reminds us that “we” started as “WE”  — Click to read:

“The founders began with an inspired idea…We”

And my reminder of “We the people…”

Below, my Fourth of July photo with water color effect showing the “WE” of America, our diversity, our ability to solve problems and build amazing things, our sense of community and making the world better.

Celebrate your life,
Share your day with others; sense
The essence of us.

  1. My wife and I attended a new citizens ceremony on the lawn of the courthouse in our small downtown. It was a wonderful reminder of the tenets of the welcoming nature of our country (you wouldn’t know it from the oval office). Hundreds of people gathered to watch and celebrate and welcome new citizens of the US. There were 53 of them, from 22 countries.

Our liberal mayor of our very progressive city quoted, of all people, Ronald Reagan’s last speech as president, where Reagan reminded the country of the ideals (which Trump ignores):

“This I believe is one of the most important sources of America’s greatness. We lead the world because unique among nations, we draw our people, our strength, from every country and every corner of the world … Thanks to each wave of new arrivals to this land of opportunity, we’re a nation forever young, forever bursting with energy and new ideas, and always on the cutting edge; always leading the world to the next frontier …” — Reagan

    • What an exciting thing to witness! When I read your post, I searched for ceremonies near us, and found the next dates. I’m not sure by the website if the ceremonies are open to the public though. I’ll need to call. I don’t know what happened to the message “We lead the world because unique among nations, we draw our people, our strength, from every country and every corner of the world …” There are many forces that seem to be in play now, and I believe the 2020 election will let us know the seriousness of these misguided paths, which will give us pause to gather for next steps, either way. Thanks for sharing your experience; it does show that we as Americans are still trying to move forward. ~ Sheri
