Today, I combine the lessons of two artists in Skillshare classes:
- Charly Clements, Drawing Expressive Faces #funwithfaces
- Ira Marcks Cartooning: People in Motion and Cartooning: Drawing Bodies and Poses
I started with Ira’s proportion chart to note the placement of the head, torso, legs. I added the body head and torso, adding in the expressive face and hair, and then moving to adding the motion in the body before sketching in the rest of the body. When I liked that motion and flow, I added the details of clothing, etc.
I’ve got the left foot firmly on the ground and he’s supposed to be readying himself to climb the ladder– although he is supposed to look unsteady and not really up to the task. As I look at it now, I see he should be leaning forward just a bit.
Practice. I’ll get better!
