Storm is Here

Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. So much going on in the world— the storm is here, from climate change catastrophes to obliteration of women’s rights to your own right to privacy. The storm is here, the evil is set and growing, and we must shine light on what should be— human rights to live a life of our choosing with a society of agreed upon rules with imposition of religious dogma or ancient history when only white wealthy males held power. You matter.
And so on our walk before the storm, this circling of vultures beneath the darkened sky seemed perfect for a poem on these times.
And my husband found an article that seems to explain the problems of the current attack on women’s and family’s planning and on the right for each of us to have privacy. It’s something to shine the light on.
- I INVENTED GILEAD. THE SUPREME COURT IS MAKING IT REAL. I thought I was writing fiction in The Handmaid’s Tale. By Margaret Atwood in The Atlantic [or Apple News link]
It’s quite frightening, and a must read if you really do believe in freedom— because even those who think these laws are good will soon find their own rights dismantled.
Storm is Here
Clouds so dark the light is hid
Sheri Edwards
But seeps along the darkness edge
Of dark’s ever growing insidious spread
Drawing vultures to their fortuity
When dark overwhelms ingenuity
Shine your light for hope ahead
So darkness and evil we rid.
