NovDoodle Angie’s Dragon

November Doodle

My CLmooc friends doodle every day. During November, my doodles will usually be from the writing for National Novel Writing Month: NaNoWriMo.

This year, my story So Says the River continues as the characters search for the dragons that help keep the balance among the many worlds. A new sighting and event had occurred, but what does it mean?

Excerpt: unedited first drafts—

Then the blue dragon pushed up the pixie on the tip of his wing so she flew to an old maple up on the edge of the stone wall to a spot with yellow lichens surrounding an engraved circle with a tri-circle inside.

“Dkdfdfe Renee lfrperer. Oeeoregnge. Glgogen. Gogehee.”

“What he means,” the pixie said, “is,

“Find the sign and note its space,
See what’s here around,
If it’s dust to you is true,
Take it from the ground.”

With a flick of his other wing, five little fairies swooped down below the maple tree and hovered over a spot.

Angie knew to be patient. She’s hidden with dragon’s before. With a swish of both its wings, the dragon reached forward and picked her up, placing her beside the maple tree above the path and on top of the rock wall.

The fairies landed and the blue circles swirled around a spot on the ground, showing her it to be true.

Angie bent over to look, and the dragon stamped its foot, causing the ground to shake and the dirt within the blue circled area slid away, revealing a map.

In her mind, Angie heard, “Take it from the ground.” And one of the fairies took her hand, pulling it to the map.

Angie touched the edge of the fragile text and gently pulled it out of the now loosened dirt.

As soon as she stood, the blue dragon shook the fairies from around him, flapped a strong dip of both wings, and disappeared into Maple Creek.
