Nature’s Palette: Columbia River

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. As I browsed my photo library, this image of which I have painted [ meandering ] kept drawing me to its lovely blue meandering through the dust of the shrub-steppe. Often times the bunch grass and wheat fields shine a golden yellow, reminiscent of “amber waves of grain.” It’s magnificent to see. The picture does not show the lovely gold of my memory, but I hope you can imagine it.

Nature’s Palette

Midnight blue river
weaves its way
through golden fields
of wheat and bunch grass
beneath a sky
of bachelor button blue:
nature’s palette
of complementary hues.
