Today’s Daily Create [ @ds106dc #tdc3497 ]– create a gif on freedom and its limits.
I choose the above quote by Abraham Lincoln from the Lincoln-Douglas debates in Chicago on July 10, 1858. The paragraph from which it originates is as follows:
I believe each individual is naturally entitled to do as he pleases with himself and the fruit of his labor, so far as it in no wise interferes with any other man’s rights; that each community, as a State, has a right to do exactly as it pleases with all the concerns within that State that interferes with the right of no other State; and that the General Government, upon principle, has no right to interfere with anything other than that general class of things that does concern the whole.
Abraham Lincoln, Chicago, Saturday Evening, July 10, 1858 from Bartleby
Right now, some people are trampling on the rights of others to vote. Pass the For The People Act.
Some people tried to take my vote away.
And many of those same people believe their freedom is to not get vaccinated and not wear masks, and yet they trample on the rights of other to live in safety.
Freedom carries responsibilities; it is not a free-for-all-whatever.
We live and we die together as a human race.
