450.24 Hope for the Little Hummingbird
Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. This little hummingbird may not make it in the heat — it is 115 degrees F here. She is in the shade of our sycamore, and we have water in a bird bath and with the sprinkler beneath her. It’s just so hot for the little creature.
Scott found our “mist” sprinkler and placed it out below her now, and gave her a little sprinkle. She perked right up and shook off her wings and flew. We’ll keep checking on her.
I do hope she survives, but we have days more of this heat.
Hope for the Hummingbird
Little mother sits
in horrid heat in her nest;
to cool the creature
so small, so helpless, we place the sprinkler below all day
