Day 374 Worried
Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem.
Today’s walk we were amazed again as a herd of mule deer appeared. They were there all the time, but we just hadn’t seen them at first because they blend in.
We noticed that the “guard” was at attention, watching the hill that is their escape and not at all worried about us, whom they have seen over and over and over again. We are not a threat, but the noise and movement on the ridge just above us bothered this one. We had just passed teenagers hiking around up there, banging on the trees and old irrigation pipes. This guard was very concerned.
Worried
The guard is alert
Worried not about us but
For their escape route
With sounds of clanking, banging:
Teenagers hiking the hill.
