Day 304 Buds and Soup
Daily Notes
A Daily Challenge to myself: a photograph and poetry. Yesterday morning, we were surprised to find a herd of deers rooting out things to eat in our yard. We wondered what, in winter, have they found? Today I snapped a picture of the buds on the Oregon grapes that flourish in our back yard, thus discovering the delicious food our back yard has provided for the deer, who do look a bit thin.
BUDS
As winter calms its icy touch
Spring’s fairy goddess surprises us
With bits of buds here and there
Tasty bites for deer, she shares.

January Doodle
For my doodle a day with my friends at CLmooc, #jandoodle, with prompts for Spoonflower, a site I share my art to at times, I created an illustration in a pattern for the prompt, “Favorite Food.” I immediately thought of the favorite winter food– a delicious curry vegetable soup that really does soothe the soul on a winter’s day.
I drew each ingredient with labels and a lovely bowl filled with the soup. Enjoy:
Daily Create
The Daily Create today asked us to recite a nursery rhyme in a “snobby voice.” I decided to record the words using the Apple speech reader in a British voice called “Serena.” I then created it into a video and also drew an illustration with the YouTube URL.

And so… these distractions have helped ease the fears for our country today and distracted me from both that worry and that of covid. Please take care wherever you are, and be thankful for the day and your family and friends.

Your soup illustration is delightful.
Thank you! I’m planning on adding it to my RedBubble and Spoonflower collections. I know my granddaughter will love it for an apron, especially since she provided me with the recipe!
