Ahnishi closed her eyes to listen.
Splat. Splatter. Flop. — She visualized, “That’s the rain, a little hard, but not ravaging like we’ve seen in storms past.”
Beep. Beep. Beep-Beep. — In her mind she pictured the soldiers with their imaging devices sweeping the area outside and below the garden. “I hope they cannot sense that room.”
“Try over here.” In her mind she saw the man Henry Udahl— he’s directing them. Closing her eyes tighter, she listened for the direction of the footsteps. She thought, “They’re going closer to the building and along the pathway, which is the edge of that room.”
She heard her dragonfly whisper, “Breathe.”
