Feldgang of Insects
A Feldgang of Insects?
A Feldgang is a close exploration, a quiet deep dive into the world around you. Today’s Daily Connect suggests we take a walk into the world of bugs, a walk through your world filled with the creepy crawlers and feisty flyers.
I wandered around my yard and enjoyed the buzz of a bee in the lavender:
I found a ladybug helping our lilac bush, whose notched leaves [which should be smooth] show they are needed:
Ladybugs are pretty amazing and we released 1500 into our neighborhood. Every time I see one, I wonder, “Is that one of ours?” For information about ladybugs, see here and here. Just remember, unless you’re releasing into a greenhouse, the ladybugs will fly away!
Of course, we have spider webs everywhere, and although they are creepy, they are needed. Here’s why:
It seems the warmer temperatures today kept the insects in hiding in some cool nook or cranny in the yard, so I spend some time creating an album for many of the photos, videos, and poems I’ve already created of the bugs in our family homes. You can view that album here: You’ll see dragonflies, wasps, bees, spiders, moths, beetles, poetry, doodles. Enjoy my feldgang of insects:
