Early summer-

fragrant lilacs

dip in the breeze

dwarfed by the spreading

branches of the surreal sycamore–

the giant of the neighborhood whose

canopy engulfs the backyard

in soothing shade

where grandkids

sing

read

laugh

play violin

plan skits

paint

giggle

dance

plan meals

face paint

draw

experiment

clean fish

on and around the old yard swing.
