Grow, Stretch, Peel, Flounder

peeling bark

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Today is the day where democracy dies in darkness. When the rule of law is circumvented by political appointees in judgeships. And still, Democrats and true Republicans still hope.

And so, this bark on our sycamore becomes a metaphor– hope for the old sycamore and more or less our nation.

Grow, Stretch, Peel

This old sycamore
still growing, bark
stretching out
peeling away
falling to the ground, er…
like a nation
once growing, hark!
stretched freedoms
now peeling away
falling away to flounder.
