August Doodle

My CLmooc friends doodle every day.

Abstract Failure

I’m in an art community that is fantastic — ver supportive: Creative Journey Community with Jennifer Nichols. Pam Brisse shares some awesome abstract art like this one:

I am captivated by this style of art. It is very difficult to create so that it is balanced in elements, color, placement, textures, etc. I like it to have a theme, like this one with nature / plants. But it’s magical and fantasy all in one.

So I took a class today in abstract art on Skillshare: It did not turn out well. The materials/brushes provided were not the same as the ones being used and I could not get the same effects. But, I do have an understanding of clipping masks, textures, color, and layers, so I did continue through the process, creating several layers and then apply blend modes in different ways as the teacher suggested. That’s why there are three different versions.

This one is my favorite, but I really am disappointed in my result:

Anyway, I’ll try again. My friend Pam shared a replay of her process and I’ll keep that in mind as I try again.

Here’s some of my abstract art that I do like:
