My Backyard Creatures

Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. The cat has taken over the potting bench, which is slowly sinking since it’s just made of pallets. She keeps an eye out for whatever might pass by: other cats, turkeys, deer, and hopefully not a coyote, which has been seen running down this street in the past since up the street is prairie and down the street the Columbia River.
Anyway, on this day watched as the fawns and doe meandered down the street munching on everything we don’t want them to eat. And the crab apples trees are filled again this year with one of their favorite treats, which we gladly do hope they eat. And the doe uses our truck as a step stool to get higher up into the tree. I don’t know if she’ll actually jump onto the truck with all four legs! She has not yet dented the truck, just using it as support for grabbing the apples, and she eats the leaves too.
Such is our backyard.
My Backyard
One little creature on her throne
Sheri Edwards
Keeps a look out for others unknown;
Two little creatures squeak in glee,
“Look there’s apples in that tree”
One young doe jumps on the truck
“Apples for all: such good luck.”
