Lovely in the Chaos

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Oh my gosh, the world today. The lies. The incitement of violence. It’s awful. “They know not what they do.”

Today an insurrectionist attacked the FBI in Cincinnati, Ohio. Because of lies. Conspiracy theories. And Republican talking points for over forty years.

I am concerned. I heed the words of Jon Meacham for he speaks the truth– is this what “they” want?

“They* may like it* but the precedents we have to pay attention to is a rule of law, a love of neighbor, and a mutual respect. So the important thing to do when chaos overwhelms is to seek the calm and find the helpers and the beauty in the world. Jon Meacham is a helper, calmly and clearly helping us see the dangers and what we need to do. And, in my world, here are some helpers:

Lovely in the Chaos

In the tangle of the chaos
when the world falls apart
and reason’s lost as lies unfold
we pause to find our heart.

We pause and look for beauty
in the place where chaos flows;
we stop to find the lovely
‘cuz it’s love that saves, we know.

In the tangle of the weeds
I dodge along the trail
Damselfly and ladybug
Clear bugs from hill and dale

Bright spots in their chaos
Helpers of their world
Look for such in your world
For chaos to be stilled.
