Aspen on the Rez

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Since I wrote in my Daily Create today a remembrance of Jim Boyd, I thought I’d share a photo from the Colville Reservation— this one on Gold Lake Road is of a grove of aspen trees.

How do you know the aspen over the birch? The bark, mostly. These trunks are not flaking the paper bark of birch but they do have the triangular lines around the places of the branches. Here’s a close up to show you what I mean. I learned this difference from this video: Aspen VS Birch.
