July Doodle Cattails at the Lake

Watercolor of cattails in a row out a distance to a sunset

July Doodle

My CLmooc friends doodle every day.

I love cattails!

My reference was a photo I took on Banks Lake last weekend— some cattails, but mostly tules, which Native Americans here used to build their homes.

And there’s this just down the same lake:

Very fun to create on several different layers to build depth and blending of color.

  • Brushes:  Lisa Bardot’s Gouache Paintbox and Bonus Brush Set Duo color rush brush!
  • Paper: Brenda Bakker [adjusted to have ragged, watercolor paper edge]
  • Palette: in Este Macleod’s  limited palette  prompt 29 for #coloricombo #estemacleodclass Baby Pink, Marshmallow Pink, Cool Mint, Muted Teal & Sage Green.
