Geology

Columbia River

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Today we traveled State Route 243 to reach the Vantage Bridge, having passed through Wallula Gap and over the ancient bed of Lewis Lake created by the Missoula Ice Age Floods which now is a National Geologic Trail. And man tells the tale only because the rocks share the story.

Geology

Rivers still flow
Where the floods once raged
Carving the coulee
Sculpting the landscape
Leaving a story
Only rocks can tell.
