Midsummer Accord

Shadows in the park on the Columbia River

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Today we ventured down to the river to listen to its roar as the shadows of the park’s trees displayed the long shadows of the evening on the midsummer solstice. And so, a poem and a video of the roaring Columbia River flowing to the ocean, down the Grand Coulee Dam where it’s flow is monitored to prevent flooding downstream and for irrigation later in the summer– as the days grow shorter and the night grows longer.

Midsummer Accord

Shadows are long in the evening
And the evening is longest today
Today is the solstice midsummer
When light accords dark its way
