At the Center

glowing sun over rolling snow-covered fields with power lines receding into the horizon beneath the sun

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. For today’s Daily Create on decentering, I found this lovely winter scene on Highway 2 south us on the rolling hills of summer fields that in winter are covered in drifting, crusted snowscapes.

And so it needed a poem because at the center of our very existence is this glowing ball of fire providing the sunlight that is the very basis of our life here on planet earth.

No matter we can generate power and other seemingly magical turns of what nature provides: without the sunshine from the center of our solar system, we do not exist.

It just seems that this fact alone would create in us the will to create an earth worthy of being– an earth in balance with one another as caretakers of each other. We depend on each other to create a healthy and safe earth. As poet George Eliot reminds us, “What do we live for, if it is not to make life less difficult to each other?

At the Center

At the center of the seasons
Is the sunshine and its rays in
steady beams of light so glowing
fueling plants to keep lives flowing.
