In the maples today

Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. Walking up through Cole Park over Fiddle Cree, we often find ourselves almost nose to nose with the neighborhood herd of mule deer who pause on alert to listen and watch us walk by. There’s something hopeful and soothing about that, as if the people of the world might do the same, accepting differences and letting them be, unafraid.

In the Maples Today

In the maples today
I heard a sound
I stopped, unsure,
And heard a leaf
Falling with the sun
Bright
Crisp
Yellow
