Light Holds

Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. Today, the widget on my iPad popped up with this photo taken looking over the area below North Dam, a frequent area for walkers. It was September 29th, Jake’s birthday, a year after his passing. I’m sure this photo was taken in a moment of memory— holding on like the sunset to what has passed. That should be in the poem, but I’ll revise it another day. Today, I just know that light holds.

Light Holds

Autumn days shorten
On this blue planet
And the light still holds
On these blue-gray clouds
A shining pinkish tinge
On the orange hues
A blessing towards tomorrow
On each day of autumn.

Post 1002 days in a row. I’m still here. We’re still here, holding on.
