NovDoodle A Visit With A Dragon

November Doodle

My CLmooc friends doodle every day. During November, my doodles will usually be from the writing for National Novel Writing Month: NaNoWriMo.

This year, my story So Says the River continues as the characters search for the dragons that help keep the balance among the many worlds. A new sighting and event had occurred, but what does it mean?

Excerpt: unedited first drafts—

Walking onward, checking to be sure the two rings of blue remained around the stone bench, and watching the shadow above slowly emerge with its green head and purple body, surrounded in its own slowly lightening, but slightly translucent protection, I stopped as the dragon slowly descended, shrinking to a size that fit to sit on the bench, it’s right forearm reaching up to tap a hello to my dragonfly.

I waited for my invitation and felt that clicking in my vest pocket. Reaching in, I found a blue sapphire, but before I could pull it out, I watched it rise out of my pocket and land to the dragon’s right side on the bench.

The yellow eyes of the dragon fixated on me and the earth rumbled as he said, “Dfdfodfene elzwder er th serboneene ddfndf depphft tntlt..”

I waited for translation. A blue pixie explained:

The blue sapphire, sacred
Held in trust for safety’s measure
Gives to one who holds it truly
Needed skills to find a treasure.

In my ear, the dragonfly whispered, “Say, ‘I think you are a treasure.’”

So I said, “I think you are a treasure.” And I think the dragon smiled.
