Day 516 Closed and Open

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. This morning was dark, with smoke in the sky, so the little oxalis leaves were partially open and the flowers still closed. But a few hours later, all the flowers opened up towards the sunlight. Such are we– hoping for life-giving light.

Closed and Open

In the dark they sleep
keeping all its limbs tightly
together, waiting
for sunlight’s warmth: when, like us,
oxalis looks up with hope.
