Day 505 Turkey
Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. Today– turkeys. We’re a little worried because only three turkeys were ambling down the sidewalk and lawn; usually there are ten or twelve. Did the heat get them? Did you know that the only way turkeys, with their dark feathers, can cool off is through the skin of their wattle? It’s awfully hot. 100° F today.

Three turkey walk our

path munching on whatever
they find in the grass;
morning sun rays shine through the
wattle: skin that cools the bird.
