450.1 Hot Poker Candy Corn
Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. Today is Day 450 of Covid Stay Home, now Stay Safe with friends and family who are vaccinated. We started that journey yesterday for our grandson’s graduation celebration at his home. Hence, I now number my posts for the 450 days of home, and now Day 1 of venturing out safely: 450.1.
Hunter is a tall one— one to look up to, for sure, but more than for his height— for his kindness, determination, persistence, and consideration in all the things he does, no matter the difficulty, and no matter who he is with; he always looks forward with hope.
At Hunter’s home are these marvelous gigantic candy corn-like plants. It’s a “hot poker,” from South Africa, natively. Hummingbirds and bees buzzed around these fantastic stalks. So…. true to the nature side of my poetry, that’s the poem for today— a delightful highlight to Hunter’s celebration.
Hot Poker Candy Corn
Candy corn flowers,
tall and bright, sweet candy to
hummingbirds and bees.
