Day 428 Pick Up A Pen
Today was the day my friend from Nespelem School posted for our group of friends to add a poem. She does this about twice a month, to bring us together with hope. This is my poem, lifting from her poem “Pick up a shoe,” to Picking Up A Pen, because that is what I do daily, digitally.
Pick Up A Pen
Pick up a pen.
Sheri Edwards, a Betsy poem
Grab a pit of paper.
Digital or anagram,
close your eyes and consider;
Set your vision with a mark—
Add a word or a few,
just a phrase, maybe two—
Perhaps a line, curved or straight,
Not to worry if it’s great—
just let it flow with is and ain’t–
A bit of color to match the mood,
letting go of the nots
move to forward thoughts;
this, today, a moment gathered
because— you matter.

Poetry/Photography/Art
And, I found my cat today beneath the Oregon grape. This is one place I can usually spot her, and she got up to stretch as I walked to try to snap a pic of her camouflaged beneath the bush. When she’s further back in the yard, she’s impossible to find.
