Day 388 Hike
Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. We took a drive to Crescent Bay after a trip to the clinic for a quick walk around a place of nature that we have loved and walked over the years, especially with our little white lab.
Today was to be a quick walk, but up on the steep hillside, the arrowleaf balsamroot called us with a yellow scream of “I am here again, a sun on earth.” And once we reached its shining petals, we realized the path back down would be too steep for my “stupid” shoes, as Scott calls them. I would have worn my boots had I known we would stop here. So, we continued on the path we knew well from years ago, which would round its way on an easy loop back to our car. Our walk became a lovely walk in the sunshine among the wildflowers.
Hike
A sunshine day

Not quite May
yet up on the hill
yellow pops brightly
its color to fill
over winter’s brown,
drawing us to climb
without considering
the pathway down;
grab hold of his hand
up the steep loose dirt
towards this earthly sun
a chance to gaze
on spring’s bountiful land.
