Day 346 Memories in a Drawer

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem.

Interesting day today. We finally had to give in to get a new coffee maker. The old one had been leaking for quite a while, making a mess on the counter.

I love getting up in the morning and seeing that my husband has the coffee ready to brew with two cups for us waiting for the fresh coffee.

This coffee maker also uses those “pods.” So I needed to clean out a draw to make room for the pods that arrived with the maker.

And, in cleaning out the drawer, I found the small notes I’d saved from visits from the grandkids. When they were younger and visited each summer, one of my and their favorite things was turning my pantry and kitchen into “Grandma’s Cafe Inn,” in which the kids could cook their own meals, using leaves from our trees as money. They would take turns as “chef” and “waiter/waitress” and created their own checks and coupons. That’s what I found in the drawer in the picture at the top! Cute and fun and a warm memory.

Memories in a Drawer

Small notes slid into

a drawer, saved as memory,

warm the heart when found.
