Day 246 Walter Near the Meadow

Excerpt from So Says The River

Beyond the meadow, a darkened forest of pines, limbs reaching out. In the meadow, lights of yellow-gold flashed here and there. Looking at the dark forest, Walter hid behind the pine. Peeking out at the meadow, Walter tried to step out into the blossoms. But Walter could not move. It was only the chipmunk chirp that brought him around and down away from the light of the meadow and the dark of the deep woods. He had been pushed to the meadow by the meadowlark and then pulled away by the chipmunk. The meadow must be the portal– or is it?
