An excerpt from So Says The River

She picked up the note again. Willow thought, “So, yes, this was an encourage note— but what is this behind the words? A faint drawing.”

Willow held the note up so the light of the hologram fireplace image could cast a faint ray over the paper.

“It’s a faint blue circle with— with a dragon inside it, a dragon in a river— the three wavy lines of the family above and below the dragon. A river of water and a river of air.”

“Wait.” Willow reached into her pocket for the button she’d found on her backpack. The blue button resembled the drawing on the paper. A solid blue circle, a dark blue dragon sitting in a river, indicated by our family wavy lines. The wind blew above, three wavy lines.” 

She let her thumb rub across the button and returned to reading the note.
