Day 111 Summer Delights
Summer time.
Walking to Elks Public Pool
Barefoot in swim suit,
towel over the shoulder;
Seven blocks
walking in every bit of shade–
running across
the sunny sidewalk
searing hot,
a quarter in hand
to slip inside
to dive into the crystal blue
pool–
for hours
in the sweltering hot sun
until closing–
then a quick stop
at Dad’s work for a nickel
for chocolate dip ice cream
at Dairy Queen, or maybe a dime
for a Dilly Bar.
Summer Delights.
