Day 38 4.20.2020

lilac.4887 small

Not ready

Not yet ready,

bundled up tight

huddled and curled up

one next to another

not peeking

not wanting to look

each wrapped tightly

in a satin coat,

deep purple,

a color whose edges dance

as fire and sky blending,

at once an intense red

subdued by a brilliant blue,

holding in those within,

little ones waiting

for their call-

a warmth not yet there

a time not yet come

they wait in place

side by side, until a lightness looms—

and lifts each little edge ’til the lilac blooms.

Prompt:

Observe. Draw or snap a picture.

Observe. Describe what is seen.

Example:

Describe what is seen rather than what is — side by side balls of deep purple buds waiting to become a lilac petal.  But– don’t say that, describe its looks in terms of something other — actions, another similar object. Not petals, but satin coats. Not just balls, but huddled and curled up. Not just purple — but red and blue, fire and sky.

Wait until the end to reveal the surprise.
