Day 34 4.16.20
Dance and Sing Along
Stay At Home
Stay, stay, stay at home
Exercise that’s fun
Hop-along, Swing-along, Twirl-along, Sing-along,
Dance beneath the sun.
Dance, dance, dance at home
Dancing to a tune
Hop-along, Swing-along, Twirl-along, Sing-along,
Dance beneath the moon.
Stay, stay, stay at home
Write yourself a song
Hop-along, Swing-along, Twirl-along, Dance-along,
Come on and sing along.
Prompt:
Write new lyrics to a familiar song.
Can you guess the tune of this song? Try singing along:
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream.
Staying at home is a challenge — and there are lots of challenges asking for ideas and input and poetry and songs to help remind us and to help get us through.
What familiar song could you write new lyrics to — and perhaps even remind others to stay safe and stay home?
About this post:
Be safe out there. Find ways to help yourself, your family, and others keep going! We can do this together!
April is time for NaPoWriMo — National Poetry Writing Month, try a bit of poetry and art to encourage others to be safe with each other. Something short. Something inclusive. Something of spring and hope. #NaPoWriMo/#GloPoWriMo
The Academy of Poets encourages us to write #shelterinpoems. Get some ideas there and share your own.
Tons of information can be found at Poets.org: National Poetry Month and here: Virtual Programs.
National Council of Teachers of English also offers suggestions here.
