NaPoWriMo Hidden
Hidden
Clouds float by
in a hazy blue sky
over the cream and brown and red rock,
granite tales from eons ago,
eroded with rich dirt
into a steep hill
where sunlight filters through
locust and maple and shrub
sprouting in spring
surrounding the park
where our walk traces
a path that absorbs our chatter
sending a warning to a silent
creature whose slow, quiet retreat
back up the hill
is to us
almost hidden.
