NaPoWriMo Second Cup
Second Cup: Cinnamon
Perhaps not plain for the second cup,
Perhaps a memory to spice things up;
Cinnamon in an old salt shaker,
milk glass art deco,
Scottie dog motif,
always there within reach,
my mom’s—
she, named McIntosh,
she, friends called Scottie,
she, my mom;
1930’s gift to a young bride,
pepper broke, an off the table slide,
kept still, a friend’s connection…for her;
repurposed now, my mom’s love…for me,
in my heart
and in my cup,
perhaps, so warm feelings fill me up,
perhaps, to share a life through spice in a cup.
