SOL18 Shamrock Blessings
Years ago before tragedy struck our family, we’d gather downtown along the streets of Spokane for the ever joyous St Patrick’s Day Parade, looking forward to the bagpipe marchers who played not only in the parade but also throughout the day. The grandkids giggled at all the silly costumes and humorous parade entries, enjoying the green necklaces and candy thrown out to the watchers. We’d be decked out in green and headbands of bouncing shamrocks, celebrating what we know is the Celtic fairy blood of our ancestors.
Although things changed, the family is still together, but just not close enough to gather for our once yearly celebration. We do meet twice a year in a big family gathering, but I do miss this our rainbow loving, fairy dancing parade time.
So I present this shamrock rainbow for you all, and my favorite Irish blessing I’ve tweaked to meet my beliefs:
