SOL18 Draft
Ha! I signed in to my WordPress for today’s Slice of Life and noticed four drafts dating all the way back to 2009!
One draft from 2016 included only this video:
As I watched, I thought of the hope that the Creative Commons represents, despite the disruptive intrusion of those deliberately spreading disinformation and despair.
Today, in a post, Equilibrium, by Cathryn Neiswender, a line caught my eye:
to trust neither the positive or negative others say
Although she was talking about unplugging from technology, the line resonates with the distractions we must ignore from the negative fake posters, yet it also reminds us to also check the validity of those things we want to believe. It’s so important to find trusted sources and to acknowledge them. It’s so important to teach this to everyone.
The Creative Commons video encourages us to share and remix, and though there are those today disrupting that vision, the answer is to keep our focus and our sharing; we must not let those who undermine our vision stop us from moving forward with building a global sharing community.
I am so thankful to those writers, artists, photographers, musicians, journalists, etc. who allow us access and a limited use of their work in order to build on and make it and the world better.
In one of the groups I work with, a person wanted to know how to copyright her blog work. I provided her with the information, and also suggested Creative Commons — it’s such a powerful idea that opens possibilities of learning together and of solving the world’s problems together.
My slice today is a reflection on and encouragement for a vision of sharing and learning together. I leave you with another newer video from Creative Commons: Wanna Work Together?
So.
Go ahead.
Make something wonderful.
Put it out there.
We’re better together.
Share with a Creative Commons License.
And now, this is no longer a draft, but a share for others to consider, a moment from the past, in reflection today.
This post is written for11th Annual Slice of Life Story challenge hosted by Two Writing Teachers . During whole month of March, we will share a slice of our lives. Please join too.
