Continued Citizenship
This year our students have already accomplished several projects:
Quad Blogs with three other schools
Collaborate with two Iowa schools on Parts of Speech
Global Read Aloud 2011: Tuck Everlasting
Skype with Antarctica Scientist Jeff Bowman
Throughout all of these activities, students followed our expected Netiquette. We’ve only had two slight slips by students in any of these activities, and the students understood the issues. They remind each other, and each week we review our requirements. In class, “Be Kind” is a paramount behavior.
What else?
We remind each other of the necessity for positive and kind behaviors. It’s an ongoing practice, and I’m glad that what we have done in the past is remembered and carried over. After school, at home, I’m not sure if it carries over, but I do know that our parents are aware and do watch their students. The students have shared how their families do watch what they do. Our online reminders and class work together with parent involvement will help our students maintain a positive online identity.
