Her Own World
Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem.
Aloof, alone, a cat of her own making and not one prone to needing humans, though she has adopted us and our place as hers. She comes for comfort when the rain falls or the wind blows or the city noises occasionally blare. Yes, she comes to us, by us, but rarely for cuddles, and only once in each evening for a purr and ear rub. Otherwise the birds and the bugs call her to hunt or the neighborhood cats arrive to hope she will share her food. Here, on her throne, she claims her world.
Her Own World

is her throne where,
alert to that which she watches,
near the window where
in and out she walks—
to stalk the bugs and birds
and other neighborhood cats— where
she claims her own world.
