Currents
Daily Note
Every day, a photograph, a poem. The canal pulls water from the Columbia River in order to irrigate hundreds of thousands of acres of semi-arid lands of the Great Basin of Washington State, sculpted by the Missoula Floods and now the recipient of life-giving water to help feed the ever polarized world. It seems we could find a way to work together, as we once did to create this amazing diversion of resources to create something better for us.
Currents
Swirling and twirling
Sheri Edwards
in the power of pulling
of the mighty river
up and over the granite wall
into a coulee of basalt
where the currents tumble
from lake to canal to lands
awaiting the life-giving water
to nurture the crops
that feed the world
no matter the currents of opinion.
