#ds106 @ds106dc   #tdc3789 In medieval books, the margins often included bits of art reflective of the artist and the times. Many of them are knights fight —- snails! What could this mean?

I see the snail, slowly in its walk towards destiny, as time, which cannot be stopped, except by death. Perhaps the knights fear the unknown of their future fate.

The slime of time slides ever nigh
Thy sword its slither will not it wither
Sword raised, knight’s threat is tried
Yet snail in its onus doth prevail
