May Doodle Petrykivka Folk Art Florals

May Doodle

My CLmooc friends doodle every day.

Today I spent hours on this Petrykivka Ukranian Folk Art, this time for my daughter— I know she’ll love this. It’s so bright and cheerful.

It’s not a quick May Doodle, but I love this lovely floral folk art from Ukraine called Petrykivka. I created the sketch last night with inspiration from the  Folk Art Board on Pinterest I created so I could remember the elements.

The style includes florals and nature elements like birds in bright colors. I learned in the Wikipedia article that the art form includes four main brush strokes: Petrykivka. The brushstroke we learned in the Petrykivka class is to brush so the brightest part of the color is in the middle of the petal, leaf, berry, etc. The edges and ends of each element are darker.
