Once Upon A Joy

Daily Note

Every day, a photograph, a poem. Another walk in the park, but every time I step on the walking bridge to enter, I am reminded that its caretaker is no longer. And every repaired stone wall or step, every fixed sprinkler head, or added basketball nets, or trimmed branches I still notice. He is missed.

Post 963 days in a row.

Once Upon a Joy

Once, in our park,

Filled with autumn’s palette,

that painted my heart with joy—

Arrived a darkness giving way

And stole its caretaker away

Away from his care and tend

And fix and mend

Skilled as nature’s doctor

once, in our park.
