Today the prompt is secret, so how about a locked box? I would add the key, but then it wouldn’t be secret: you could open it…

This was fun to make. There’s a lot of velvety painting going on in several shades of dark red to bright pink using the brush Hartz in the Artistic category in ProCreate. I know I’m painting on an iPad, but it’s really getting so that I can “feel” the Apple pencil, like I can “feel” a paint brush. So smushing and smudging all those colors together just seemed like buttery velvet.

Some of the shadow is created with willow charcoal, another velvety brush.

And the background shadows are mostly Hartz again in two layers. The top layer I erased with my own pattern brush. I duplicated these two layers and reformed them behind the box with lowered opacity.

I like the way it turned out.
