Day 433 Daily Create Something Interesting
Daily Create
Today’s Daily Create [ @ds106dc #tdc3416] is to find something interesting today, May 20, 2021, and create a poster about it.
Today, our air quality is great— but summer is coming; here’s how you can monitor and help in the network:
- Check the Purple Air map for real-time air quality in your area.
- Visit purpleair.com
- Learn about Purple Air: FAQs
- Join the network and install a device to help
A bit about the network
Purple Air is real-time local readings with relatively inexpensive devices. They give you an informative look at the air quality right now in your area.
As KQED says:
Users of PurpleAir can toggle between real-time data and readings averaged over the last 10 or 30 minutes. The data comes from the commercial sensors the company sells, which members of the public install on porches, yards and other neighborhood sites. The readings can be helpful for people deciding whether to go for a walk or engage in other outdoor activity. (Remember to deselect “indoor sensors” to see outdoors-only readings.) When fire season starts, Purple Air gives us the info we need to decide our outings for the day. We also check AirNow which now works with the US Forest Service for this air quality map: Fire.AirNow for a larger area look.
Hope this helps you a bit if you live in the United States. Safe breathing. Stay safe.
